Temporary tattoos!

These days, I'm smitten with all the clever tattoos out there, but I'm too wussy to get a permanent one. So I was THRILLED to discover tatt.ly, a new online shop offering awesome, designy temporary tattoos.

Which would you wear?

Swedish optical illusion

Swedish artist Erik Johansson created this incredible optical illusion in a Stockholm city square. The ravine looks so real, it gives me goosebumps!

Deep dish cookies

Ooooh, yes please.

(Thanks, Kathryn)

Fountain bench

My mind is brimming with things to share today! But first: Does anyone know where to find this amazing fountain bench in New York City?! Wouldn't you love to be sitting there right now? xoxo

Update: Answer in the comments!

Embroidered portraits

Daniel Kornrumpf's embroidered portraits blow my mind. Can you imagine how long they would take? I love the incredible detail, like wayward mustache hairs and hungover eyes.

P.S. Motherhood Monday post coming up!

Hello Fax!

Ok, so this might be the dorkiest post in Cup of Jo history, but my head is exploding with the awesomeness of the new website HelloFax. You can sign forms (with your mouse!), fill out documents, and send faxes, all online. No printers or fax machines needed. How amazing and time-saving is that?!

Thank you, HelloFax. You just added two years to my life.

Weird fruits

German artist Uli Westphal started noticing how lawfully enforced standards of agriculture made every lemon, lime and tomato look exactly the same. "The complete absence of botanical anomalies in our supermarkets has caused us to regard the consistency of produce there as natural," he wrote. So, he went to Berlin farmer's markets and photographed a dazzling array of fruits and vegetables, in an effort to document the "last survivors of biological variety." I had no idea!

(You can buy the print here.)

P.S. Have you ever seen Food, Inc.?

Avocado popsicles

Yesterday we made our first batch of summer popsicles, and, inspired by the new popsicle cookbook Paletas, we made two awesome flavors: avocado (!) and Greek yogurt with blackberry.
The avocado popsicle was surprisingly sweet and refreshing...
...and the Greek yogurt with blackberry popsicle was creamy and tart.
Here are the recipes, if you'd like to try them out. Enjoy!

Funny comics

In a seriously nerdy turn, I may or may not be newly obsessed with charts and comics.

Lighthouse carafe

Last night, I snuck out for a pedicure and read the newest Real Simple in my massage chair. In the issue, I stumbled upon this adorable lighthouse carafe! How cute would it be for summer entertaining?

San Francisco bouncy balls

Remember that mindblowing commercial a few years ago where thousands of bouncy balls cascaded down the hills of San Francisco? Well, Danish photographer Peter Funch captured photos of the scene, and Lumas is selling limited edition prints. Aren't they magical?

Here's the commercial, if you haven't seen it:

Wine bottle labels

Pinhole Press just launched a new wedding section, and I'm crazy about these photo wine labels. Just think of all the funny possibilities for parties and gifts! As Alex would say, "The mind boggles."

Sunrise bubbles

Norwegian photographer Odin Hole Standal woke up early one morning, went outside and made giant soap bubbles. Here are his beautiful results. Look at the lovely sunrise!

P.S. Also, popping bubbles...

(Update: This post mysteriously disappeared at 1pm, so I just re-uploaded it--odd!)

Children's book

Hilarious. For all you new parents out there. :)

Nice rack.

We bike over to friends' houses quite a lot, but if we take a bottle of wine, it rattles around in the bike basket. This is a perfect solution!

Was your dad hip?

The tumblr Dads Are the Original Hipsters made me laugh out loud. It features old photos of dads looking awesome back in the day, along with hilarious captions. (The photo above: "Your dad wore cycling caps before you did...")
"Your dad drank obscure sodas before you did."
"Your dad wore a knit cap before you did."
"Your dad ate local fair-trade produce before you did."
"Your dad had big headphones before you did."
"You dad was into shooting shit before you were."
"Your dad lived in Portland before you did."
"Your dad didn't give a f*#k before you did."

Was your dad hip? :)

Congratulations, Will and Kate!

What a romantic moment...
...although maybe a little too loud. :)

Perfect nails

My friend Leigh always has pretty nail polish, but my jaw dropped when I saw her glittery gold manicure. They're actually Sally Hansen nail strips, which you apply like stickers! So they never smudge and don't need drying time. Aren't they amazing?

Three pretty things

The beautiful Susan Cernek in a blue shirt with ripped jeans and sky-high heels. She gets it right every time.
This gorgeous room makes me want to get brighter lightbulbs and more plants for our apartment.
How genius is this? I have an elevator phobia, but I'd at least press the button for this one (and then take the stairs.)
