Paris Hilton - Jewelry Thief?

Is Paris Hilton the latest paparazzi princess to add jewelry thief to her illustrious resume?

According to the New York Daily News, the 'heirhead' is being sued by German insurance giant, Allianz, for not returning $60,000 worth of Damiani loaner jewelry that was stolen (and subsequently recovered) from her house in that notorious celebrity jewelry crime spree back in 2009.

Why do I feel like I've been in this movie before?

"Despite having recovered Damiani's jewelry, \[Hilton has\] failed to return all of the jewelry to Damiani as required by the Agreements," the suit said.

In court paper, Allianz said Damiani in 2007 loaned Hilton $60,000 of jewelry to wear for public appearances. As part of the deal, Hilton agreed to stash the jewelry in a safe or a vault whenever she wasn't wearing it.

But, or course, our Paris does whatever she darn well pleases - so she left the baubles for the world to grab in her unlocked, unalarmed Beverly Hills mansion. And now that the police have long recovered the stolen bling, she just hasn't 'bothered' to return it to its rightful owners.

I'm of half a mind to think she's doing it to get back in the headlines after Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian stole her 'famous for being famous' thunder this year. But my guess is? She's just not into details.

No comment yet from the Hilton camp. Why can't these ladies get their diamond details down? Is this just poor planning or an 'I'm above it all' attitude gone bad?

Cannes Jewelry Gawk Fest

Cannes Film Festival jewelry gawking is one of my favorite pasttimes. This event, unlike any other, is where the rich and richer get to bring out their baubles and swing' em around for all to see. We've got princesses, queens, celebrities and model types - all dripping in diamonds for your drooling pleasure.

Who wore your favorite look?

Here is a dynamic diamond duo of (model?)Hofit Golan and Lady Victoria Hervey. If the jewelry world had superheroes, they'd have some serious wonder twin powers.

Paris Hilton Falls for Cartier

When guys find themselves in the doghouse, buying jewelry may seem patronizing and trite, but let’s face it: diamonds do things to a jewelry hound that are beyond our control.

Exhibit A: Paris Hilton. She and her reality TV star beau, Doug Reinhardt, broke it off in June after an argument, but the dapper duo was spotted walking the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival this week looking cozy, cute and very much a couple.

What gives? Cartier. And lots of it.

Reinhardt was spotted whipping out his Black Amex at the Cartier store in Venice where he purchased not one simple diamond. No. He bought the ENTIRE Panther line of rings, necklaces and bracelets for his beloved. Yes, THE Panther Collection that Rachel Zoe and all the fashionistas have been coveting of late.

So will the rekindled romance last? The jury is out – especially since Hilton was spotted canoodling with soccer stud, Cristiano Ronaldo, this summer - one fella who just might trump a Cartier windfall. Yum.

What do you guys think? Have you ever been wooed by jewelry? Or is the gesture just a lame attempt to buy your love? Weigh in!

Diamond iPhone Tickled Pink

Pink diamonds have been lighting up celebrity betrothals for years now – from J-Lo’s famous rock back in the Ben days to Portia deRossi’s pink diamond ring bling. But pink ice isn’t just for ring fingers.

The Apple iphone 3GS just got a pink diamond makeover from UK-based Stuart Hughes.

Paris Hilton? Are you listening?

The pink beauty is made from 18ct rose gold and is decorated with 53 pink diamond gems set in the Apple logo to add a little sparkle.

And the cost to add this ‘essential’ accessory to your warchest? Only about $35,575, all told.

If pink diamond jewelry is more your style, check out Jewelry.com's assortment of colored diamond gems -all at prices that are much less than a new luxury coup.

And if you've ever wondered how diamonds get their color, they've got a great education section that tells you all you need to know.

Earring Statements Shine at Fifi Awards

Golden chandeliers, diamond danglers, emerald drops and classic hoops all made a red carpet appearance on celebs attending the Fifi Awards in New York last night.

As if we didn’t have enough award shows.

The Fifi is the fragrance world’s equivalent of the Oscar, where important categories like: Best Celebrity Fragrance and Best Media Campaign share the stage with Best Packaging.

When we start giving out awards for boxes, folks, it’s time to take a good, hard look.

Celebs like Paris Hilton, Tim McGraw and Sean Combs brought home Fifis for their fragrances; and designer, Marc Jacobs, was honored with an induction to the all-important Fragrance Foundation’s Hall of Fame. For smelling so good all these years, I presume.

The red carpet featured a myriad of metallics, including Queen Latifah in Georges Chakra and diamond flower earrings, Paris Hilton in a bejeweled magenta Chakra and model, Hilary Roda, in gold with stunning chandelier drops.

The big miss here was Kate Walsh, whose shiny pink Hugo Boss number did nothing to accentuate the positive, despite a lovely earring statement. Word on the street is her divorce is getting uglier than the dress choice, so I’ll go easy.

I’m happy to report that hoops are still making a big splash in celebrity circles, with Dancing With the Stars, Samantha Harris, rocking a big yellow gold pair to add shine to her cute little tangerine number.

And while there were several solid looks that honored the Fifi like the important awards show that it is, the red carpet winner for me had to be Mary J. Blige in Roberto Cavali and emeralds.

By a nose.

Paris Hilton to Win, Place and Show

How can one socialite drip in diamonds all the way from the blue grass of Kentucky to the blue bloods at the Kennedy Center in one weekend? Ask Paris Hilton, who was the belle of the ball at not one but two high profile social events in the past few days.

The first, of course, was the 135th Kentucky Derby, where a long shot came in first and Hilton dazzled the southern belles with her hunky arm candy and her chunky jewels as the co-host of the Barnstable-Brown pre–Derby event.

Wearing a poured-on Tadashi dress, the heiress sported serious caratage on her ears with a huge diamond cuff and right hand ring to top ‘er off.

And while Paris didn’t win any bets that day, she won a few hearts in our nation’s capital the next evening as she and her main man made a glittering appearance at the Kennedey Center’s Spring Gala, where Washington luminaries were entertained by the likes of k.d. lang, Lily Tomlin and other notable names.

Wearing a trendy gem-encrusted headband with yet another icy cuff from her treasure chest and a huge diamond ring rumored to be her grandmother’s, Hilton stole the show as the DC power scene scurried to fly in her orbit.

Thankfully, Michelle Obama entered the Presidential box to upstage her and bring everyone back to the real reason they were there – to celebrate women in the arts.

Which, of course, as a star of such worthy films as "The Hottie and the Nottie" and "Repo: The Generic Opera" our papparazzi-challenged reality star can so, like, relate to.

A-list Jewelry on a D-list Line-up

Bravo’s second annual The A-List Awards filmed in Los Angeles over the weekend, and our favorite reality show stars showed up in diamonds, gold and gowns galore.

Life on the D-List star, Kathy Griffin, hosted the event which celebrates the best in food, fashion, beauty, design and pop culture. And while the ‘best’ is certainly debatable considering their line-up of reality show divas (The entire Real Housewives casts), wannabe reality show divas (Making the Band’s Aubrey O’Day. Ick.), and long lost reality show divas (trashy Trichelle from the Real World? Really?), there were some A-list jewelry statements worth celebrating.

Yellow gold lit up the red carpet on a glowing Mila Jovovich in a daring yellow gold statement necklace and headpiece. And Top Chef host, Padma Lakshmi, was decked out in golden jewels from her own signature jewelry line.

And someone sent a memo to all the blondes, with a skeletal Tori Spelling, Travis Barker ex, Shanna Moakler, and Jim Carey main squeeze, Jenny McCarthy all opting for yellow gold statement earrings – and all looking quite lovely, actually. (Tori. Eat a sandwich. Please.)

No one does skanky chic quite like Paris Hilton – whose shocking diamond fan earrings and icy pink diamond cuff made her hot pink Barbie doll dress walk on the right side of trashy.

And Kathy Griffin looked like anything but a D-lister, actually, in a black sequined number with shoulder dusters to die for.

Bravo!

What reality show diva does Kathy tongue kiss onstage? The show airs on April 15th so set your DVRs to find out!

Fergie’s Fashion Is Off The Chain

I know you might be doing something important like finding a cure for cancer, performing brain surgery or building habitats for humanity, but your life won’t be complete without knowing that Keyshia Cole, Ron Fair and Manny Halley hosted a Vanity Fair and Krug dinner party yesterday at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood - and the fashions were off the chain.

Newlyweds Fergie and Josh Duhamel attended along with Nicky and Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Rapper Taboo, Akon and more. Marriage must agree with Mrs. Duhamel, as Fergie’s dinnertime ensemble was accessorized beautifully with a stunning vintage diamond flower hairpiece, a large cluster right hand ring and multiple layerings of pearl strands and gold-accented chains. The chain gang also included Nicky Hilton and a very pregnant Stefanie Fair.

The layered chain look is nothing new – the trend made it’s first appearance last summer, littered the fall fashion runways and has hung in there on the red carpets well into awards season. Marisa Tomei layered her links at the Golden Globes and a pants-suited Jennifer Aniston wore a series of gold chains at the premiere of He’s Just Not That Into You a few days back.

And layering chains is something we mere mortals can incorporate into our own wardrobes. Long pearl strands, chunky chain links, colored beads – anything goes. And while the current trend is to wear ‘everything but the kitchen sink’, it’s probably best to exercise a bit of restraint. Channeling Mr. T is not a good look. For anyone.

So when you get a break from that rocket science gig or a respite from solving our environmental crisis - remember to take a cue from Fergie and friends and layer up those chains for your next night on the town. Or Vanity Fair-sponsored dinner.
