Hard labor has its perks. New mom Rachel Zoe got one doozy of a 'push present' from hubby, Rodger Berman - a 10 carat cushion-cut right hand ring from celebrity designer, Neil Lane!
“Rodger wanted to surprise Rachel with something romantic — and huge,” Lane told People.com of the sparkler, which is surrounded by smaller diamonds in a platinum setting. “I knew she’s wanted a cushion cut forever. It was their first baby and she’s been working so hard that Rodger wanted to do something very special. Rachel was thrilled and hasn’t taken it off since!”
Cushion-cut stones have becomen the 'must-have' look among the celebrity set and bridal crowd the past few years.
"A lot of it has to do with Hollywood," president of New York manufacturer J. Birnbach told National Jeweler. "Celebrities have been embracing the cushions and the Asschers for the last couple years."
Famous brides like Ivanka Trump, Alyssa Milano and Anna Paquin each received cushion-cut engagement rings. And we're seeing A-listers like Penelope Cruz wear cushion-cut jewels to big events like the Oscars.
And if it will 'cushion' the blow of the baby blues - I'm all for it.
Did any of you get a 'push present'? Weigh in! And here's a link to my previous post on other great jewelry gift ideas for new moms. Enjoy!

"The Bachelor" Engagement Ring Scoop
The Bachelor franchise has something going for it other than manufacturing doomed marriages for the sake of its deluded viewers (including yours truly). It has Neil Lane.
The celebrity designer has bedazzled the ring fingers of many blushing Bachelor brides-to-be and Bachelorettes since the show's inception 800 years ago. (Ok. 15 years ago)
According to StyleList, Lane personally globe-trots with a case of his vintage-inspired diamonds to help the reality show's stars handpick the rings that are part of the dramatic final rose ceremonies.
On the Season 15 finale airing tonight, hunky Texan Brad Womack will either offer single mom Emily Maynard or sultry siren Chantal O'Brien the final rose and the Neil Lane diamond stunner - which in previews appears to be a cushion-cut stone with pave accents.
Lane has bejeweled every celebrity under the sun - from Jessica Simpson's ruby engagement ring to Reese Witherspoon's emerald earrings at this year's Oscars. But his diamonds are the most drool-worthy - which is why Kay Jewelers offers a line of Neil Lane bridal designs at price points mere mortals can afford.
"My rings used to be aspirational, but now they're attainable", he tells StyleList about the Kay partnership.
As for tonight's lucky lady? No one gets to keep the rock unless the relationship ends in a marriage that lasts longer than two years. So in other words? It's a Neil Lane loaner until she gets a gig on Dancing With The Stars. Stay tuned!

Kat Von D's Engagement Ring Details
So Kat von D and Jesse James are engaged, and despite how you might feel about the couple (James notoriously cheated on former wife, Sandra Bullock, just a year ago for those of you living in a cave), you have to admit her vintage-style engagement ring is totally cool.
And wouldn't you know? Neil Lane is the designer responsible for the celebrity ring bling. (If I had a diamond for every time I wrote that sentence...)
Lane tells People the ring is a four-carat-plus platinum and diamond ring from his archival collection, adding,
“It’s a beautiful ring set with a central round diamond in the middle with smaller surrounding diamonds for an overall dome shape. It has a delicate filigree pattern with very pretty scroll-work.”
Not so delicate? The way this couple is gushing all over town about how perfect their lives are now that they've finally found true love. Ick!
Kindof reminds me of when Brad and Angelina couldn't keep their mouths closed long enough to realize it might not be in the best taste considering Jennifer Aniston has a pair of eyes and ears that work just like everyone else and....
OK. Big inhale...
Here are some really cool vintage-inspired diamond ring designs I found on sample sale sensation, JewelClub (click on the caption to see more). Check out the price break they give you for the carat count! Now that's worth blabbing all over town about...

Jewelry Insider's Top Ten Blingy Bits of 2010
It's been a year full of surprises my fellow jewelry hounds. From diamond dentures and bug jewelry to gold parties and Gaga, the "Year of the Tiger" was nothing if not 'unusual'.
So as the last days of 2010 take their final bow, it's time to do what we media folks love to do best: Look back. And make lists.
Here is a smattering of some of my favorite jewelry moments combined with some of yours - because without you guys, I'm just all alone in the universe writing about Lindsay Lohan's jail jewelry and diamond dog collars as if it actually MEANS something.
So my heartfelt thanks to you all for joining this shiny place of jewel-filled sarcasm, schadenfreude and joy for yet another year. Here's to more days of diamond diversions!
10. The 'Ears' Have It
If 2009 was the year of the statement necklace, 2010 brought the sentiment to the ears. The trend started with the smashing success of Courteney Cox's Golden Globe teardrop triumph and continued throughout awards season. Look for swinging chandelier shapes and shoulder dusters to continue to shine well into 2011.
9. Baseball Bling
In the year's 4th most popular post, I got to the bottom of those weird rope necklaces all the baseball players were wearing last season. I was surprised as anyone to know that jocks not only get emotional about jewelry - they believe it has super powers. And I thought I had issues...
8. Pink Diamond Shatters Price Record
So. There's this dude, Laurence Graff. And he has piles of money. What does he do with it? He gobbles up the world's most valuable diamonds like pints of Chunky Monkey. His latest acquisition was a 24.78-carat piece of pink perfection that sold for a record-breaking $46.16 million. And now back to our regularly scheduled budget deficit....
7. Neil Lane - Jeweler of the Year
My jeweler of the year award has to go to Neil Lane. He's always been a red carpet staple but his monopoly on celebrity weddings in 2010 was staggering. He designed Anna Paquin's bridal jewels, Nicole Richie's wedding band, Jessica Simpson's newsworthy ruby rock - along with the bling for the entire Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise. AND he launched a bridal line with Kay Jewelers to reach the mere mortal market. Just call him the Kim Kardashian of the jewelry world: He somehow seems to be everywhere. And he's taking it straight to the bank.
6. Black Diamond Blitz
When Howard Stern awarded his 'Tiger Woods Miss Mistress' winner a black diamond ring for her trouble back in March, I feared one of my favorite stones would be forever branded the 'other women'. But Sex And The City II (despite being one of my biggest disappointments this year - see #5 for more) gave black diamonds a glittering close up - and the stone is now a must-have for red carpet divas and regular folks alike. I'm giving it my 'most likely to succeed' award. Stay tuned.
5. Diamond Disappointments
Not to be all Debbie Downer and all...but there were some MAJOR jewelry/fashion bummers this year.
Exhibit A: The Oscars
When Kathy Ireland's questionable interviewing skills are the only thing worth squawking about - you know you've got a bummer year on your hands.
Exhibit B: Fashion Week: Spring 2011:
Where. Was. The. Jewelry?
Exhibit C: Sex And The City II:
My favorite New York women finally jumped the shark. Aiden? In Abu Dhabi? "I Am Woman" karaoke? C'mon!
Exhibit D: Angelina Jolie.
The world's most stunning actress (a la Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn) can't seem to wear anything but black and diamond studs on the red carpet. And Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts are stuck in the muck with her. Help me, Housewives of Beverly Hills. You're my only hope.
4. Where's The Beef?
Lady Gaga wore a meat dress. 'Nuff said.
3. Kanye West's Diamond Dentures
In the third most popular post for 2010, we learned that replacing your teeth with real diamonds might help people forget you're an egomaniac for a week or so.
2. Chelsea Clinton's Engagement Ring
More people read my post on Chelsea's engagement ring than any other entry in the history of the blog. Despite the fact that I (and all of my other fellow jewelry hounds) STILL haven't found a decent picture of the thing. Hat's off to you, Chels, for keeping us all well out of your business. And for making my Alexa rating skyrocket.
1. The Sapphire Heard 'Round the World.
Hey. Did you hear? Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton. Shocker! Seriously, though, you're going to have to endure many a royal wedding post in 2011 - cuz there's gonna be major crown jewels on display. I'm already hyperventilating.
But perhaps the most important repercussion from all this nonsense, is the resurgence of the Lady Di ring silhouette and sapphires as a popular stone for engagement rings. I hope the trend continues, because if there's one thing I've learned in 2010 - you don't have to break the bank to get a great piece of jewelry these days (JewelClub, anyone?). And that includes engagement rings.
OK. I think I hear the champagne calling my name. (It happens.) I hope you all have a safe and shining New Year. In the meantime, weigh in with your favorite jewelry moments from 2010! As always, I love to hear from you. (Janet - that means you!)
See you on the flip side!
Neil Lane Designs Nicole Richie's Wedding Band
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden finally got married after YEARS of speculation this weekend in a sparkling winter-themed ceremony at Lionel Richie's Beverly Hills home. Did her 150 guests 'dance on the ceiling' in celebration? Details of the black-tie bash are few and far between, but here's what I know so far.
The Dress: Nicole reportedly spent a lot of time choosing the right gown, laboring between vintage Chanel and Marchesa (designer of the dress Richie wears above). Ultimately, Marchesa won the day not once, not twice but three times on the lady throughout the ceremony and reception, according to InStyle.com.
The Jewelry: Neil Lane designed Richie's 4-carat vintage-inspired engagement ring, so it's no surprise his handiwork was all over the wedding band design. No pictures or details have emerged yet - but stay tuned.
The Guest List: Paris Hilton wasn't invited, according to Styleist.com. But BFFs Khloe Kardashian and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz were on hand along with Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani, and Samantha Ronson. Daughter Harlow was the flower girl, and Rev. Run from Run DMC officiated. So it's like that...
The Atmosphere: Winter is Richie's favorite season, so the formal affair was bedazzled accordingly. Which doesn't explain why an elephant was photographed entering the festivities. But what celebrity wedding would be complete without one these days? (click here for more).
All this Nicole Richie news reminds me that her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line is still going strong, with price points that are stocking-stuffer-friendly. Shop her collection on Pink Mascara here.
2010 CMA Awards Jewelry Fashion
With so many leading ladies from Hollywood's A-list littering the 2010 Country Music Awards, like Gwyneth Paltrow (more on her later), Katherine Heigl and Nicole Kidman, I began to wonder if I was covering the right event.
But these looks came 'round, and I was reminded you can never keep a good rhinestone cowgirl down.
So? What did I learn from last night's jewelry hunt?
Country singers love big old gowns. And Carrie Underwood (almost) won the night with her seven(!) costume changes during her co-hosting gig. But one country music crooner wore a getup that put Miss American Idol in her place - everyone's favorite coal miner's daughter, Loretta Lynn.
Jewelry winners were:
Miranda Lambert in Amrapali statement earrings and a series of bangles:
Jennifer Nettles in Kimberly McDonald agate-slice earrings:
Taylor Swift in Neil Lane diamond dangle earrings:
The other big winner for me was Gwyneth Paltrow. Love her or hate her, the woman showed serious chutzpah by taking the CMA stage and singing a great little ditty from her latest film, Country Strong (see the performance video here).
I know there are a gazillion country singer wannabes out there who deserve their chance, so Gwynnie jumping the line is more than a little annoying. But I like her. Despite her 'lifestyle' website, workout videos and way-too-public friendship with Madonna. And that song is totally sing-in-the-shower-worthy. Well played.
Lots to ponder here, jewelry hounds. What do you think of Hollywood invading the country music scene? Did Gwyneth deserve her standing o? Where is Dolly Parton when you need her? Who wore you fav jewelry look? Weigh in!
'Neil Lane Bridal' Tickles Tinseltown

Celebrity jeweler, Neil Lane, never met a Hollywood wedding he didn't bedazzle, so his client list is long and loaded with heavy hitters like Ellen Degeneres, Nicole Richie and the entire Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise.
Last Thursday, the designer celebrated his new, moderately priced bridal collection with Kay Jewelers at a Hollywood fete, and the red carpet was loaded with leading ladies.
The 'cutest couple' award goes to Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, who showed off their Neil Lane wedding bands.

And Eva Longoria Parker stunned in black Gustavo Cadile and loads of diamond ice.
